SYSTEMS LTD. PRODUCT TRACKING AND MANAGEMENT NEWS VOLUME 1, No 2 – Q3/2005 |

|
|
Welcome back to our third quarter issue of ONTRACK – a newsletter designed to keep our user
community in touch with what is happening at QES. The summer is over and everyone is settling in back at work
after the vacations, visitors and summer family activities. We
at QES kept busy over the summer putting the final touches on our latest
project down in New Mexico. We kept
busy also traveling around visiting prospective clients and working with
existing clients on adding more functionality and power to their
systems. It has been an exciting
summer and we are anxious to get busy on the projects scheduled for the
coming year. We are also looking
forward to the next release of BLACKBIRD PTMS, expected early in 2006 which
will add even more power and functionality to the product. This quarter marks the
announcement of a new and very significant relationship for QES. It is with PT Dirjo Mulia from Indonesia
who gives QES a very visible presence in the vibrant industry of South East
Asia. A new feature we have
added this issue is “Customers in the News” where we will feature the
activities and accomplishments of our customers from around the world. This issue we see some news from one of
QES’s oldest customers, Howe Sound Pulp & Paper LP. This mill has been at the forefront of
environmental activities for decades and their leadership continues, as you
will read below. |

LATEST INSTALLATION |
BLACKBIRD'S 28th PRODUCTION LINE Last edition, QES announced the startup of its software on its 28th production line but at the time we did not identify the mill. This was deliberate as the mill had recently undergone an ownership change and we needed to wait until the dust settled before we could get permission to use their name. That permission has been granted now and we are pleased to identify the mill the NBSK mill in Castlegar BC, recently acquired by Mercer International, and operating under its new name as “Zellstoff Celgar”. |

DURANGO McKINLEY PAPER COMPANY The project at Durango McKinley Paper Company in Prewitt New Mexico, has been the subject of a lot of work over the summer and the Factory acceptance Tests were held in early September. The software is now in its final tuning stage and will be implemented during an upcoming shut down. The BLACKBIRD® suite of products to be installed will manage all of Durango’s paper business activities, from sales and marketing, through the shop floor tracking, quality management, warehousing, distribution and invoicing. BLACKBIRD® will also be extended back into the supply chain to track and manage the flow of raw materials - OCC - to the mill The first phase of the OCC system will be installed at the scale house and will provide the mill with a powerful tool to reduce the impact of truck detention charges. |

WETLAB 5 UPDATE |
WetLab in the Cariboo! The latest installation of WetLab 5 is at Cariboo
Pulp and Paper Company in Quesnel BC.
Cariboo Pulp produces high quality bleached softwood Kraft pulp and
always strives to exceed customer expectations for product quality and
service. Cariboo was looking for a
system that would simplify the process of generating, accurate, reproducible
beater curves. Installed as part of a
continuous improvement program to ensure that curves were produced in a
reproducible manner with a minimum of effort, WetLab 5 has met their
expectations. The new system has
reduced the time spent on repetitive data transcription and curve preparation
and will soon provide a direct feed of test data into the mill wide computer
system. Since installation, QES is
working with the staff at Cariboo to personalize their system and to give it
the exact look and versatility that they need. The driver behind the acquisition of WetLab 5, Quality
Assurance Supervisor Steve Schneider says "the technicians are happy
with the move to WetLab and QES has provided good technical support for us!” |
